The Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area is a protected natural area recognized for its high concentration of primate species. It is home to 16 species of primates, including the Red Uakari and the Pygmy Marmoset, the smallest monkey in the world. The conservation area covers about 420,000 hectares and is also home to a diverse range of aquatic species, over 600 species of birds, and many reptiles and amphibians. This conservation area is an important site for scientific research and ecotourism. Sustainable development and community involvement are being prioritized to protect the area's unique biodiversity and the livelihoods of local communities, including indigenous peoples who have lived in harmony with the rainforest for centuries.
The Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area has been studied for over 40 years due to its rich biological diversity and the presence of numerous species of fauna, including a high diversity of primates. Scientists recommended that the area be protected in the mid-1970s, and local communities, with the support of various institutions, began sustainable resource management in the mid-1980s. Between 1988 and 1990, government officials and scientists highlighted the area's unique biodiversity, including the presence of the Red Uakari monkey, which is classified as endangered. Various institutions have conducted research on the biology and ecology of species, ecosystems and communities in the area.

We will visit the village of Ayacucho-Tipishca to have a cross-cultural experience with our Amazonian hosts after a hearty lunch.
Later, we will go on our first expedition to search for pink and gray river dolphins, witness a beautiful sunset, and swim in the majestic Amazon River, which gives its name to the natural wonder of the world, the Amazon. After dinner, we will search for caimans and capybaras, the largest rodents in the world. Overnight, we will stay in the communal house of the small village of Ayacucho-Tipishca.
6:00 AM: Breakfast on board. We will have the opportunity to observe macaws, camungos, Shansho birds, and the incredible Piuri bird or Wattled Curassow. This bird was declared extinct by scientists, but we can still see it in this area.
